Athene North Shore is an ADA Compliant park located at Easter Lake in Des Moines, IA run by the Polk County Conservation. This site was designed by Red Dot marketing agency, and we worked with them and the Polk County Conservation team during the development process to make sure we had all avenues covered.

North Shore came to use with not only needing a new website built, but they also needed it to be ADA compliant for users with disabilities. We take pride in making all of our clients projects ADA compliant, but with this perticular project, we hade to go even a bit further. We worked with Red Dot to make sure designed were compliant before we even starting building. We also used a 3rd party AI application called ‘User Way’ to help fix some of the bigger issues and save time and money on the development.

We also implemented a events calendar for Polk County Conservation to use, so they can make individual and series events for their users.

Project Tasks
  • Website Build

    Use designed files as a blueprint, and used a custom Wordpress theme to match site design. Setup client with site hosting, and trained them on how to update site on their own.

  • SEO and Event Functionality

    Made sure the design, and text copy use the correct wording for best SEO practices. Also used strong keywords and marked pages for sitemap for solid Search Engine Optimization. Used custom event calendar plugin for ease of use for events.

  • ADA Complient

    Worked with Design team on design layout, colors, along with strong coding practices to make sure the design is within the ADA Standards for Accessible Design. Then we added 3rd party app UserWay to help with other ADA Standards like text size and font changes with AI.
